In 1992, just after graduating from high school Amanda Bossard started her education in marine biology at Alaska Pacific University, Anchorage in Alaska. Bossard started her career as a commercial seafood worker in 1999. Bossard began working on the F/V Sunset which was a 65' halibut schooner that was turned into a tender for salmon in the name of Murat Aritan. She had been working in commercial fishing since. Bossard and Aritan are now married and are working together to claim their place in their industry. Both are in the direction of preserving resources and maximising profits. In 2007, now a mother to two kids Bella age three and Andre 1 Bossard and then relocating back to live in Philadelphia, opened a direct market wholesale distributor of seafood known as Otolith. Her husband has a long experience in the industry of fish, which often keeps them apart for a period of five or more months. It is during this time that they're focused on their environmental and financial goals. Bossard, her son Andre and Isabella, her daughter Isabella will return home to Southeast Alaska every summer as deckhands for the harvest of wild salmon. Utilizing a troller of 42 inches they are able to catch salmon by hooks. Then they work alongside Aritan in a local processing plant for two weeks.
